Could it be that the reason I haven't gone to any movies lately is that they all suck?
Alternatively, it could just because the MPAA is evil. I try not to support organizations that have lawsuits filed against my friends (who suddenly wish to remain nameless, so I've removed the link).

Microsoft's Crag Mundie has been about town this week, bad-mouthing radical free-software types like me for (allegedly) bringing about the end of the American way of life as we know it. His speech is online, if you want to read first-hand what's gotten everyone riled up. The always-smooth Linus Torvalds (original author of Linux) published a nice retort, but it's the incomparable NTK who take the cake in their inimitable British way. Read, read!

I've been playing with TellMe networks' VoiceXML gateway. My conclusion: Way cool stuff! It makes it as easy to create a telephone-based application as it is to create a home page or web-based application. All the hard speech-recognition stuff is taken care of for you. I've got a whole bunch of silly examples that I've been playing with. =)

ArsDigita has a great 'getting-started' intro at http://www.arsdigita.com/asj/vxml/ which I highly recommend.
